The COVID-19 outbreak and its impact around the world presents many challenges for the wine industry, both locally and internationally. The cuts in cellar door tourism and on-premise sales have already seen many wineries suffer downturns in their sales.

This does however provide a great opportunity to focus on direct to consumer eCommerce sales and opening up of new export markets. To help wineries during these challenging times Geddes a Drink have formed the Compass Wine Alliance with marketing agency AM-i and to provide a one-stop service. We are bringing together the digital marketing and content expertise of the AM-i team and Angus Hughson with my partnership in China with 9KaCha to assist wineries to maximise their opportunity in what will be key opportunities for growth in 2020 and beyond – direct to consumer sales and exports to China.

    A 2-3 hour workshop to get a better understanding of your objectives and the challenges and opportunities you are facing for a fee of $500 ex GST.

  3. Step-by-step Plan
    Based on the workshop, we provide a detailed, step-by-step plan for how to achieve your goals. From there, we can continue to provide support if and where you need it.

Our Alliance

We have brought together a strategic alliance of wine professionals with significant experience in digital marketing, online content and exports to form the Compass Wine Alliance and provide this range of services including AM-i, Winepilot and Geddes A Drink.

AM-i is a Customer Engagement Agency who specialise in Marketing and Loyalty, led by Angela Cobb and Oliver Stewart. As well as having extensive winery experience, the AM-i team has worked across Australia’s largest and well-known retailers and loyalty programs including Dan Murphy’s, BWS, Woolworths, Myer and Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Winepilot is a new wine review and drinks content platform recently launched by Angus Hughson, long time columnist for The Australian and Gourmet Traveller Wine plus former Chief Marketing Officer for The Wine Collective.

Winepilot brings together a team of some of Australia’s leading drinks writers, judges and sommeliers, to provide wineries with a new review platform and content service assisting them to connect with their target audience. Winepilot’s particular focus is to help wineries reach those wine consumers, often younger or female wine-interested consumers, not currently catered for by the current subscription models.

Rob Geddes MW has over 30 years domestic and international experience in the wine trade. Rob has worked for nearly 17 years consulting to international wine brands, including a decade in Marketing and Export Development with Rosemount Estate in its heyday.

Rob has been one of a small number of China-based Masters of Wine for over 5 years and works as a consultant to regions and brands, as a visiting expert and regular speaker on the wine conference circuit. In 2019, Rob was named as one of China’s top 10 wine influencers and entered into a partnership with 9KaCha, China’s leading wine app, to assist Australian wine brands with distribution and eCommerce.
